Hwange Mobile Camping Safari 7 Days

Explore the prolific game and over 400 bird species in this 7 Days 6 Nights Hwange Mobile camping safari in Hwange National Park. Hwange’s prolific game is explored on open game drive vehicles or on foot. Accommodation is on semi & luxury Camping tents.

DAY 1

The safari adventure to Hwange National Park starts off in Victoria Falls, where guests are picked up and driven in an air conditioned bus to the Main Camp Area of the park. This is a 2 hour journey and it is here that you will be met by your professional guide, who will then take you through to your campsite deep in the park. On route your guide will give you a picnic lunch near one of the water points. Once in camp and everyone has seen the lay of the facilities it is off on a late afternoon game drive. On arrival back in camp in the evening the camp staff will have the camp fire going and it now that one gets the feeling of being in the wilds.

The Hwange National Park is 14,640km² and is in fact as big as Northern Ireland. Due to the vast size of the park the landscape varies from deep Kalahari sands in the south to rocky hilly country in the north. The park is divided into 3 different areas, namely Main Camp, Robins and Sinamatella areas. The park is home to over 35,000 elephants who in the dry season dominate all the water points in the afternoons. Other animals that can be seen in the park are lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, impala, kudu, sable, eland, waterbuck, zebra, giraffe, baboon and warthog. There have also been 400 species of bird life recorded here.

 DAYS 2 & 3

The activities over the next two days will be centered on the water points. They are spaced out and so there is plenty to see, driving between them. The walking is very scenic, with some beautiful acacia woodland that at certain times of the year has the elephants shaking them for pods. The walk offers an opportunity, not only for game viewing, but also a chance for you to explore some of the smaller more interesting aspects of the environment. You will spot a variety of animal spoors, and may even find yourselves engrossed in tracking down a particular species. The diversity of animals that come down to the water points is wonderful and it is always a pleasure to see the proud Sable antelope.

DAY 4

It will be another early start but today the camp will move to the Sinamatella area of the park, which is the north. This will be a day trip through the park with a packed lunch along the way. In the late afternoon after a long day in the vehicle, time permitting there will be an afternoon walk to one of the water points to see the animals coming down to drink or a game drive. On arrival back in camp around sunset, you will be able to sit back and relax with sundowners and snacks. Around the campfire is invariably where guests will gather to discuss the day’s events and plan for the morning. In the background your support staff are busy preparing a tasty dinner for you.

DAYS 5 & 6

The Sinamatella area of the park is a fantastic game driving and walking area. The next two days will follow along the lines of an early start with a light breakfast and then off by vehicle or on foot or a combination of the two, this depending on what has been heard during the night. The walks are especially adventurous and you will always remember how exciting it is to be amongst the elephant on foot! This area is also one of the last strong holds for the endangered Black Rhino. For those of you who are up to it, a morning of tracking the Rhino on foot is a must! The area is home to lion, elephants, Rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, waterbuck, giraffe, kudu, sable, warthog just to mention a few…

DAY 7

Today sadly the safari ends and so after breakfast transferred out of the park to your next destination.
